Celtic are facing a battle to keep winger Rocco Vata. The 18-year-old has one year remaining on his contract and will be keen to continue his progression.

Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph has confirmed that the player is subject to interest from teams from England, Italy and Belgium which may or may not coincide with his decision to sign for CAA Base football agency – who engineered Ange’s move to Tottenham.

Rocco’s dad, Rudi, played for Celtic in the late 1990s and has been keen for his son to make the transition into the first team. There is probably no one better than Brendan Rodgers to ensure that he can reach his potential as a player. Recent examples of Kieran Tierney, Stuart Armstrong, Harvey Barnes and James Maddison can all be used as examples of players that have benefitted from Rodgers’ coaching.

Vata made his breakthrough last season making four first team appearances and threatened to be Celtic’s next big thing. Predominately with Celtic B and Ireland U19s, Vata has shone and proven himself to be a real talent. It will be something that the club will be keen to resolve by retaining the player and providing him with a realistic pathway towards becoming a first team regular.
