Celtic are reportedly facing competition for promising Irish striker Johnny Kenny, according to the Irish Mirror. The report states that the Sligo Rovers forward, who is only 18, is attracting interest from a number of teams in England despite Celtic having shown an interest in the promising Irishman.

The Irish league appears to be a focus for a number of clubs with youngsters being eyed for moves across the Irish Sea in the hope that they can unearth the next top talent from Ireland. Celtic’s decision to sign Liam Scales is the first of potentially many acquisitions from the League of Ireland. In 34 appearances, Kenny has found the net 12 times as well as managing 3 assists. It is no wonder that clubs are looking at acquiring the attacker, despite him only having signed a three-year deal recently.

Celtic could make a move in January for the youngster but Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Yosuke Ideguchi are set to be heralded in as Ange Postecoglou hunts for depth to his starting XI. Whilst Kenny is undoubtedly a talent, he would be a player for the Celtic B team originally that may look to break into the first team in due course.
