Celtic handed massive injury boost in crucial week

Celtic have been handed a huge boost ahead of a vital week with Cameron Carter-Vickers returning to fitness. The 26-year-old had picked up a toe injury at the beginning of the season and last featured in the UEFA Champions League win over Slovan Bratislava.

However, the central defender has been training at Lennoxtown with a view to starting in the games against Aberdeen, Atalanta and Motherwell.

Record Sport are reporting that Rodgers is now considering whether to throw CCV in for the top of the table clash against The Dons or if he brings him off the bench to get minutes ahead of Matchday Three in the UCL.

It will be interesting to see whether Carter-Vickers starts on Saturday or whether the manager decides to continue with Auston Trusty and Liam Scales as CCV’s return is managed. The trip to Bergamo would likely be earmarked for the US Internationalist to start, especially given how his absence was felt in Dortmund.

Scales and Trusty are both left sided defender and the preference would be for a right sided defender to come in and provide balance. It was clear that Rodgers sought a new defender to challenge Scales and partner CCV in defence.
