It is no secret to any of us that Odsonne Edouard has the urge to move on to pastures new and away from Paradise. The striker, 23, has been linked with a whole host of major European clubs throughout his entire tenure at Celtic; of which the number is growing by the minute, due to ‘French Eddy’s’ expiring contract.
And John Hartson – one of the more iconic players to adorn the famous green and white in the 21st century – has sprung more bad news upon supporters by claiming the club have absolutely zero chance of holding on to the Frenchman this summer.
I think his time will come, he will move on.
Hartson, who played 146 league games for the Hoops and scored 88 league goals in the process, believes Edouard’s tenure at Parkhead has come to a close this summer, due to the Frenchman’s abilities being above and beyond a team which has failed to compete in the Europa League this season under Neil Lennon.
Speaking to The Daily Record, Lennon said: “We will not be able to keep Edouard, we’ve held on to Edouard with a piece of string really, to be honest with you. He’s been so close to leaving. I think his time will come, he will move on.”
Hardly inspiring words from the former Bhoys’ fan favourite; although, all things considered, ‘Big Bad John’ has quite the leg to stand on. Can you blame Edouard after the mess the club has become over the last twelve months? Sure, he hasn’t been on top form himself, and he would probably be the first one to tell you that, but the service he’s received has been absolutely nothing short of absolutely dreadful; my bet is that the Frenchman is already licking his lips at the prospect of linking up with the likes of high-flying Leicester and AC Milan.
