Celtic are reportedly in talks with Los Angeles FC over the transfer of Mateusz Bogusz. The 22-year-old, formerly of Leeds United, has been in the MLS since March 2023 but could be on the verge of a return to Europe.

According to Tomasz Włodarczyk of Polish outlet Meczyki, talks are underway between the MLS side and the Scottish Champions over a deal worth around £8m.

In 74 appearances for LAFC, Bogusz has scored 20 goals and assisted on 14 occasions. It is a decent return for the player and one that will likely have caught the eye of Celtic’s scouts as they continue to search for players to strengthen the first team.

Bogusz plays predominantly as an attacking midfielder but can also play further forward as well as in a deeper midfield role. The suggestion that talks are underway could be attributed to Brendan’s comments about wanting at least one midfielder in the door before the window ends.

Celtic are braced for the departure of Matt O’Riley, who is the subject of a £25m+ bid from Premier League side Brighton. Paulo Bernardo has already been signed from Benfica but the manager has said he would like to add two more midfielders if O’Riley departs.

The source is usually quite good given that he was on the ball with Josip Juranovic and Maik Nawrocki updates. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
