Celtic Invincible given chance to land Premier League contract

Celtic Invincible Stuart Armstrong is currently on trial with Premier League side Brentford in an attempt to earn a deal. After leaving Southampton following their Premier League promotion, Armstrong has been linked with a number of clubs.

Thomas Frank’s side have offered the 32-year-old the chance to prove that he’s fully recovered from a muscle injury.

Brentford played Armstrong in a 5-2 pre-season friendly win over AFC Wimbledon. The 51-cap Scotland star would likely relish a chance to stay in the Premier League as well as the chance to work alongside his pal, Kris Ajer.

Celtic have been linked with a move for Armstrong, who was released by Southampton after failing to agree new terms following their promotion to the Premier League. Celtic sold Armstrong in the summer of 2018 in a deal worth in excess of £7m. The departure was inevitable as Armstrong clearly wanted to have a crack at the Premier League.

Armstrong was a top player for Celtic, really kicking on under Brendan Rodgers and helping Celtic towards a Double Treble. After signing alongside Gary Mackay-Steven, Armstrong went onto make 144 appearances for Celtic, scoring 28 times and racking up 25 assists.
