Marching into the final in style. Yesterday Celtic also sent a big statement out in the so-called race for the title…

Last night could have been a tricky one to overcome,  most thought it would, myself included, but in the end it was a stroll in the park as we marched into the Premier Sports Cup final in style.

Daizen Maeda will rightly take the plaudits

It was a top drawer display from the players who all hit top form at the right time, and proved once again that they are big game specialists, especially at the National stadium. Daizen Maeda will rightly take the plaudits thanks to his hat trick and assist, but Nicolas Kuhn for me was just as important as he put in yet another superb showing.

The entire side got high pass marks last night (Sandman’s Ratings coming up next on The Celtic Star), and Aberdeen just couldn’t live with us as the reality facing them in their so-called title challenge hit home.

Aberdeen were at full strength

Aberdeen also were at full strength, and admittedly may have been showing some fatigue after their win against theRangers on Wednesday night, but if they want to compete on all fronts then that is a problem they will have to deal with as the season progresses.

Big statement in the race for the title

This well deserved win not only gives Celtic a chance of lifting the first silverware of the season, it also sends out a big statement in the race for the title. It also terrifies the third force in Scottish football today who know that if they win today they’ll face the prospect of playing that Celtic team in the final. Some of their supporters are already hoping that’s going to be Motherwell’s problem.
