Celtic legend Scott Brown has completed a huge upset last night as his Fleetwood Town side knocked out Queen’s Park Rangers in the FA Cup. The Loftus Road side, formerly managed by Michael Beale, arrived in Lancashire hoping to progress to the Fourth Round with ease.
Fleetwood came from behind to win 2-1 and seal their place in the next round of the tournament. The EFL League 1 side were seen as major underdogs with a division between the teams. However, an upset was on the offing as Brown inspired his side to complete a big win.
Brown rejected the chance to remain at Celtic in order to take up a player-coach role under his pal, Stephen Glass. However, following the sacking of Glass and subsequent replacement Jim Goodwin informing Brown that his coaching opportunities would be limited, he made the decision to walk away from the North East. You would imagine that he is seeking to put his coaching badges to good use and build up experience with a long-term view to seal the Celtic job one day.
The midfielder bowed out at Celtic after 620 appearances, 46 goals and 22 trophies in the Green and White. The opportunity to make it as a coach will motivate Brown, a serial winner, to continue the impressive start he has made with the Cod Army.
