CELTIC signed Boli Bolingoli from Rapid Vienna last year and now, the Scottish Champions are being linked with 22-year-old midfielder Dejan Ljubicic. Rapid have valued him at £2m and Celtic could move to sign him incase any interest in Olivier Ntcham transpires.
The Daily Mail are reporting that Celtic are interested in bringing the defensive midfielder to Paradise. Ljubicic has also been linked with Brentford but Celtic could see him as a potential replacement for 35-year-old Scott Brown.
Ljubicic has made 92 appearances for Rapid, scoring 7 goals but as well as operating in the centre of midfield in a deep lying defensive role, the Austrian can also play at centre back.
With one year remaining on his current deal, Rapid are keen to sell so that they don’t miss out on a fee for the promising youngster. Whilst Celtic are linked with a move, Rangers, Southampton and Brentford have also been touted as being interested in signing Ljubicic.
Celtic may appear to be overstocked in the midfield area with a number of options available; however, should any interest transpire in Olivier Ntcham, the club could look to Ljubicic to fill any vacancy in the midfield.
Neil Lennon’s side have already secured another season long loan for Moi Elyounoussi as the preparations for the new season get underway. Although, the main aim for Lennon’s side will be to fill the vacancy in goals.
