Celtic are looking to sign Ben Davies this month, according to Sky Sports News’ Anthony Joseph. The Preston North End defender is in advanced discussions about joining the club on a pre-contract deal but they could look to seal that this month.
Preston are said to be looking for a fee of between £2m and £2.5m from Celtic for Davies, having quoted £3m to Bournemouth.
Meanwhile, there's been no further progress with PNE midfielder Ben Pearson, who is out of contract at the end of the season.https://t.co/Ott5ZZ4hm3

The club may see this as a starting point for negotiations considering if they can entice the player north they may as well wait until the summer and save £2m. PNE will know this and will likely drop the price so they don’t lose the player for nothing.
However, Bournemouth are also interested in the player so this may force Celtic’s hand to seal a deal.
Just so you #celtic fans know, Ben Davies is real class. He’s the best centre back I’ve seen at for the club in 25 yrs. The reason we rate him so highly isn’t just because he’s a great defender, but he’s fantastic in possession. Rarely loses, really cool under pressure. #bargain

Celtic are yet to conclude any transfer dealings this month as it moves towards its conclusion. James McCarthy and Ben Pearson have both been linked with pre-contract moves; however, the team have missed out on players like Mark McKenzie, Filip Benkovic, Bright Osayi-Samuel as well as Alfie Doughty this window.
The move would be the first incoming signing as they plan on a big summer overhaul. Although, the outcome of the January Review remains outstanding and supporters are fearing that this may result in a number of big players deciding to jump ship.
