Ange Postecoglou has confirmed on Sky Sports ahead of kick-off at Perth that Calllum McGregor will be out until after the break so it looks like the eariest we’ll see the Celtic captain back in competitive action will be at Pittodrie on Saturday 17 December.
And the Celtic manager also cleared by the reason why Moritz Jenz is not in the squad today. The German defender had travelled to the team’s pre-match hotel and was in the squad but woke up feeling unwell this morning and taking no chances, the Celtic manager decided to send him home.
Greg Taylor meanwhile is simply being rested as he has played so much football. Cameron Carter-Vickers returns and will captain the side in McGregor’s absence.

On handling the loss of the captain Ange pointed out that nothing really changes stating that the players are well aware of what is expected of them and that doesn’t change whether Callum plays or is missing. While accepting that the loss of McGregor is a ‘massive loss’ he said that the team will stick to its principles and continue to play their football.
The Celtic manager also pointed out that this is an early game in a tough 13 match schedule and he expects a tough challenge from a well organised St Johnstone side who will surrender possession and sit deep to try to frustrate the visitors.
