David Turnbull looks set to sign for EFL Championship side Cardiff City. The 24-year-old has made 14 appearances for Celtic this year, scoring 7 goals but with just months remaining on his deal, the Scottish Champions have cashed in.

As reported by Mail Sport’s Stephen McGowan, Cardiff are paying £2m for the Scotland Internationalist.

Signed from Motherwell in 2020, Turnbull won Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year in his debut season as Celtic toiled.

The midfielder made 134 appearances for the club, scoring 31 goals and assisting on 23 occasions. Appearances and first team opportunities were limited due to Tom Rogic, Reo Hatate Matt O’Riley and Aaron Mooy.

The player will likely enjoy success in England but didn’t have the requisite pace to keep up with the attacking requirements Celtic. The club have done well to get a fee for Turnbull, who is out of contract.

Despite being quite one footed, Turnbull was excellent at crossing the ball and hitting the ball from range. Turnbull leaves Celtic with two Premiership titles, two League Cups and two Scottish Cups.
