Chris Sutton insists that Celtic must maintain their outstanding domestic form that was evident before the World Cup break as soon as the action resumes at Pittodrie in the 12.30pm kick-off today.
With theRangers talking up their chances of a causing a title upset with a compliant media happy to put a positive spin on everything from the new portrait on display in the home dressing room to the decision to re-introduce brown brogues and suits to the matchday experience for theRangers players as rookie boss Mick Beale takes the reins from a manager who actually got them to a penalty shoot-out in the Europa League Final and won the Scottish Cup for the latest Ibrox club for the first time ever.

Ange Postecoglou while all this was going on was more interested in what he’d be having for his dinner and has previously stated that he’s no interest in looking over the fence at a noisy neighbour whose new boss couldn’t even bring himself to mention Celtic’s name during the week, calling the Champions and League leaders ‘the other team’. With Gio away it looks like wee-man syndrome is still part and parcel of the managerial mentality over in Govan.
“Celtic positively roared into the World Cup break. It’s crucial for Ange Postecoglou and his team to ensure they come screaming back out the traps at full pelt today in Aberdeen to show that hold ups and stoppages won’t be halting their momentum in terms of the title race,” Sutton noted in his newspaper column today in Daily Record.
It’s hard to know how the World Cup shutdown is going to affect teams in terms of their form and whether it changes the course of their respective seasons. Put it this way, if the Premiership hadn’t stopped when it did and the pattern continued in the way it was unfolding, the title race could have been over by the time Santa Claus got his white beard dirty sliding down the chimney.
But it did and, from a Celtic perspective, they must make sure they are stamping their authority on it all once again starting at Pittodrie. I’ve no doubt that Postecoglou has the squad and the set-up to ensure that happens, no matter any effects of the World Cup halt.”
