SATURDAY 27 AUGUST 1904
At Clune Park, Port Glasgow, before a small crowd of 5,000, Celtic beat the home side Port Glasgow Athletic 4-1 with a hat-trick from man of the moment Jimmy Quinn and another goal from Finlay McLean. Celtic are the Scottish Cup holders, but are painfully aware that they have not yet won the Scottish League this century.
SATURDAY 27 AUGUST 1927
Jimmy McGrory, Tommy McInally and Alec Thomson score the goals as Celtic defeat Falkirk 3-0 at Celtic Park. A special cheer is reserved for Falkirk’s inside right. He was Patsy Gallacher! But the man of the match was William “Peter” McGonagle.

SATURDAY 27 AUGUST 1932
After a couple of results that could charitably be described as “indifferent”, Celtic turn it on at Parkhead today and defeat Morton 7-1. Charlie Napier scores a hat-trick, Jimmy McGrory two and the Thomsons, Bertie and Alec, one each.
WEDNESDAY 27 AUGUST 1952
A tight game at Firhill sees Celtic emerge winners by 1-0 with the only goal of the game scored by Bertie Peacock. Celtic now have a good chance of qualification for the League Cup quarter finals if they can beat Hibs on Saturday at Easter Road.
SATURDAY 27 AUGUST 1966
46,000 roar their appreciation of this marvellous Celtic team who beat Hearts 3-0 at Celtic Park with two goals from Joe McBride (one a penalty) and one from Steve Chalmers.
