Celtic release 67-word statement on Glasgow Derby away tickets

Celtic Football Club this afternoon released a short statement, with just 67 words, explaining the club’s position on the re-introduction of away tickets for Glasgow Derby matches at Celtic Park and Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic confirm that they have ‘completed all necessary works’ to safely accommodate away supporters at Celtic Park.

Celtic also state that the have been unable to obtain a guarantee that Celtic supporters could attend IBROX in January and that has resulted in the decision not to allocate away tickets for the visit of theRangers to Celtic Park on 1st September.

Celtic do NOT elaborate on this,  but there are doubts that the game will actually be played at IBROX as theRangers are currently playing in their rented home over at Hampden with no date yet available of when Ibrox will be ready to host any matches.

And there’s no mention any schedule from the Ibrox club about the agreed works that they have previously agreed to undertake at their stadium to accommodate Celtic supporters. This will require planning permission applications that have yet to be submitted.

Celtic meanwhile have gone through all the procedures necessary and have carried out the work in good faith.

The Celtic FC statement reads as follows:

Celtic Football Club statement

‘Across a number of months, Celtic has completed all necessary works with regard to accommodating away supporters for derby matches.

Without a guarantee that our supporters could attend Ibrox in January, however, unfortunately we were not in a position to allocate tickets to away supporters at Celtic Park for the forthcoming match in September.

We will continue to engage with all parties to seek a satisfactory solution.’ Celtic Football Club Statement
