Celtic set to complete five year deal for International goalkeeper

Celtic are set to complete the signing of Finnish goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo. The 22-year-old is set to arrive on a five year deal from English Premier League side Aston Villa with a view to becoming the Celtic No.1 in the future.

According to Football Scotland, an announcement is imminent with the Finnish Internationalist set to sign for £1m. Sinisalo has been capped three times and he is in an exciting trajectory of his career having impressed on loan with Exeter City.

Sinisalo will likely play as the cup goalie alongside Kasper Schmeichel, who is set to arrive as the club’s new No.1 replacing Joe Hart. The Dane is said to be Sinisalo’s hero and it is hoped that the Denmark Skipper will play a mentoring role as Brendan looks to the long term.

Fans had been concerned that the signing of Schmeichel was shortsighted and didn’t plan for the long term; however, this move shows that the club are doing both. The club will be hoping to have both players involved ahead of the beginning of the games during their pre-season tour of USA.

Benjamin Siegrist will likely move on in the coming weeks, most probably going towards Australia. This will mean that Scott Bain will move to become the third goalkeeper at the club.

  1. To potentially have the keeper positions finally looking to be resolved, is of great relief finally?
Even better that some forward planning has been introduced also?
Don’t know how long Bain current contract runs for, but possibly more than any other Scottish club would be willing to pay at a guess imo?
Still buys ourselves time to see if Tobi or Clarke can develop into the required standards we are looking for within our 25man squad, hopefully well beyond next season also imo?
