It’s pretty clear that re-signing Fraser Forster was the main priority last summer, and it could well be the same situation at the end of this season too.
What we don’t know is if Greek goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas was already lined up as the alternative or if he was a bit of a panic move, but it’s just not worked out for him.
It’s frustrating because if you watch the footage of him in Greece then he looks like an outstanding all-round keeper, but he’s almost looked timid this season and that might not be something he can fix.
A report from HITC has confirmed that Celtic do want to move on from him this summer, so they are actively looking for offers for a permanent sale.

There’s little chance that they manage to recoup the reported £4.5m that was spent on him last year, so perhaps it could be left to send him out on loan for a year in the hope that his value starts to rise again.
Scott Bain and Conor Hazard will be the senior options if he goes and both of them look like little more than solid back-ups at this point, so another signing will need to be made.
There may be reluctance to spend big-money on the position due to the situation with Barkas, but we’ve seen the exact difference that a top quality keeper can make so they need to keep pushing until an answer is found.
