CONOR HAZARD looks set to agree a new contract with Celtic, days after making his competitive debut for the club. The 22-year-old started the 3-2 win over Lille and kept a clean sheet in the 2-0 win over Killie and now, he looks set for fresh terms with Neil Lennon’s side.
According to The Scottish Sun, The Scottish Champions will give the Irishman a new contract after breaking into the first team picture.
Hazard has spent loan spells with Dundee, Partick Thistle and Falkirk but as Neil Lennon searches for a No.1, he looks to have put himself in pole position to start the cup final versus Hearts. Hazard could make the position his own so that Lennon feels comfortable enough not going into the January Transfer Window. However, if there is a certain goalkeeper at Southampton available, he may try and entice him back.
Fraser Forster has been linked again with a move to Celtic after failing to make any appearances for Southampton this season. The Saints have also been linked with a potential January move for Accrington Stanley’s Toby Savin meaning that Forster’s chances of any game time at the Premier League club are next to none.
Instead, he could come back to Celtic and make a contribution towards 10IAR and help Neil Lennon strengthen his backline. Vasilis Barkas has underwhelmed since joining from AEK Athens and Scott Bain hasn’t been up to the task of replacing him.
One stumbling block with any deal for Forster is his £90k-a-week wage packet that he still has eighteen months remaining. Saints will be keen to get Forster off of their books so a deal could potentially be done.
