Celtic look set to sign Osaze Urhoghide from Sheffield Wednesday. The 20-year-old can play at both right back and centre back and looks to be the first of Ange Postecoglou’s signings ahead of the European qualifier against FC Midtjylland. The Daily Record are reporting that Celtic have staved off interest from Leeds United and look to complete a cut-price £200k deal, owing to cross border compensation fees.

The player has only made 21 senior appearances so seems to be one for the future as opposed to an ‘oven ready’ replacement for Celtic. The deal is nearing completion and it is a relief that there is business being done after a period where Celtic appeared to be stalling. The transition of power from Lawwell to Dom McKay is complete and our new CEO and manager will be looking to make a splash in the market.

Celtic have already poached some of Sheffield Wednesday’s brightest talents with Liam Shaw arriving on a pre-contract. The versatile defender is already working hard at Lennoxtown for the manager and will likely be delighted if his teammate from Hillsborough joins him in Glasgow.

Celtic have been linked with Mario Vuskovic and Erik Sviatchenko as first team replacements with Kris Ajer seemingly set to exit but it is equally important to have capable, squad players in and around the first team.
