Celtic goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist has travelled to Romania to undergo a medical with Rapid Bucharest. The Swiss goalie will link up with Celtic legend Neil Lennon, who recently took over at the club.
According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Siegrist will undergo a medical as he looks to secure a move for first team football.
The 32-year-old is keen to get his career back on track after two years of deputising to Joe Hart with the Scottish Champions. In that time, the player had made just two competitive appearances. Whilst he has been able to look for another club, the goalie has done well at keeping his head down and helping work with his teammates to bring about five trophies in the last two years.
After being one of the standout goalkeepers in the Cinch, Siegrist was signed to offer competition to Hart. However, after appearances in the League Cup, the winter trip to Sydney saw a mystery absence for months afterwards.
Celtic have signed new No.1 Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo to deputise. The signing of the duo will likely mean that Scott Bain becomes the third choice keeper, which allows Siegrist to move on.
