When Adam Idah signed for Celtic back in January on a loan deal from Norwich, his arrival wasn’t exactly greeted with enthusiasm.

In fact there were some Celtic supporters who had completely written him off, and maybe understandable to an extent as he was deemed as the third choice striker at Norwich. To me that was unfair and thankfully the biggest percentage of supporters, myself included were willing to give the young lad time to prove himself, and prove himself he did.

His first start saw him grab a brace from the penalty spot, against Hibs at Easter Road. The second effort being a pressure moment in the dying seconds of the game, a goal that turned out to be ever so important in the destiny of the title.

Just like his double at Fir Park, and his late goal at Ibrox. Goals that were instrumental in our title win, and of course his last gasp goal in the Scottish Cup Final against theRangers won us the cup and let us end the season on a major high.

In fact I’d go as far as to say that Adam is one of the main reason we won the league and cup double last season because without him coming in from Norwich when he did it would have been a highly unrealistic outcome. That can’t be denied.

Supporters have been praying that Adam would sign on permanent all summer and despite it looking like it wasn’t going to happen it’s now signed and sealed and the supporters are delighted.

When you think back to the negativity surrounding his arrival back in January, this represents a massive turnaround. Adam can potentially become our record signing. Proving once again that you should never write anyone off without giving them a chance first.

Adam Idah earned his move to Celtic and fully deserves all the hype and excitement around his arrival. He’ll hit the ground running too, as there’s no need to have to have a settling in time at a new club. We’re about to see the best of the big Irishman.

Welcome home Adam!
