Celtic star Matt O’Riley could make his Denmark debut this week after being called up to the National Team. After Anderlecht striker Kasper Dolberg withdrew, it was confirmed that the Celtic midfielder would be called up to the National Team.
The 22-year-old has five goals and three assists already this season and the displays had caught the eye of Denmark boss Hjulmand. Hjulmand was said to have been impressed with the displays from O’Riley so far this season and has been rewarded him with a place in the squad for their European Qualifier game against San Marino on Tuesday.
O’Riley was signed by Ange Postecoglou in the January transfer window of his first season. It would transpire that he was Tom Rogic’s eventual replacement but the midfielder was impressive in his first half of the season, nevertheless. Before Ange moved onto Spurs, O’Riley was a key competent of the team having made 72 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight times and assisting on sixteen occasions.
O’Reilly will have ambitions of being included in Denmark’s team for Euro 2024 next summer and the opportunity to make his debut will certainly allow for that.
