Celtic are monitoring the fitness of Moi Elyounoussi and Shane Duffy ahead of Sunday night’s match with Ross County. The on-loan duo are nursing minor knocks and Neil Lennon said that they would be assessed by the medical team ahead of the trip to Dingwall. As reported by The Sun, Lennon confirmed that the winger and central defender were being supervised before a decision on whether they play is taken.
“Elyounoussi picked up a knock in training so we’ll see how he is for tomorrow.
“Shane has got a bit of an Achilles problem so we’ll see how he is.”
Elyounoussi has played 34 games for the club this season, scoring 13 and assisting 6 times. He will return to Southampton at the end of the season but Celtic may fancy sealing a deal to bring the Norwegian star back to the club on a permanent, cut-price basis. Shane Duffy, meanwhile, has endured a torrid time since joining his boyhood heroes. He hasn’t benefitted from playing with a settled defensive partnership but a number of errors have clearly shaken his confidence.
Celtic travel to face Premiership strugglers on Sunday night, hoping that Dundee United will be able to pull a shock result out the bag at Ibrox earlier in the day. Celtic currently sit 15 points behind Rangers but in the month of January, the 9IAR Champions dropped 12 points, 9 of which came after the ill-fated Dubai trip.
