Sead Haksabanovic is said to be keen on a move to Celtic as the Scottish Champions consider a move for the attacking midfielder. The Montenegro Internationalist has been training alone as he plots a move away from Russian side Rubin Kazan.
According to Football Scotland’s Mark Hendry, the winger is wanting out of Russia and will be available on a reduced fee as both player and club try and work through the situation. Celtic, who signed Carl Starfelt from Kazan last summer, are considering a swoop for the player.
Celtic are still looking to recruit and offload players as the window enters its final fortnight but the manager has stated on a few occasions that he will only recruit if the right option presents itself. The stars may be aligning for Haksabanovic to become a Celtic player if, as is believed, both he and Kazan are willing to work to strike a favourable deal with the Scottish Champions.
Hendry is usually on the ball with his Celtic transfer updates and it would seem that the player has become a very real option for the club. At 23, he represents a good age but it would pose some questions for players currently in need of game time – such as Mikey Johnston. The rumour mill for exits appears to have calmed down with little or no talk around Albian Ajeti or Christopher Jullien.
Haksabanovic, meanwhile, would be an option at left-wing but can also play on the other flank as well as central attacking midfield. The Russians were believed to have a €32m release clause but a variety of reasons, Celtic could strike a deal to sign the ex-West Ham player for a fraction of this price.
It is certainly one to keep an eye on.
