Celtic are expected to complete a €3.5m deal to sign Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna. The player won’t be included in the squad to face Wiener SC in a friendly as the deal nears completion.

It is expected that verbal agreement is in place with finishing touches needed to the contract, which is expected to be £3m plus add-ons.

The player is believed to be waiting for the green light as he is eager to join, where he will sign a four year deal.

Celtic have been engaged in negotiations with Rapid for the 24-year-old as Rodgers looks to bring quality into his attacking third. With Daizen Maeda and Oh away for the Asia Cup, Rodgers will want to get his team firing on all cylinders for the second half of the season.

Kühn started his career at St Pauli in their youth academy before moving to Hannover and then RB Leipzig before a €2m switch to Ajax in 2020.

Wyscout have named Kühn as one of the top 12 ‘chance creators’ in world football, something that will have appealed to Celtic’s recruitment team as they look to get sign the former prodigy. In 22 appearances this season, the attacker has three goals and seven assists and his offensive output has attracted the interest of Celtic. Kühn is expected to be worth upwards of €3.5m despite joining Rapid for £500k in the summer of 2022.
