Liel Abada is no longer a Celtic player after the Israeli winger put pen to paper on a move to MLS side Charlotte FC. The deal is worth £10m to Celtic and Abada has signed a contract taking him through to the end of 2026 with Charlotte FC having another year’s option within the deal.

Anthony Joseph at Sky Sports has confirmed that the deal has now been done, so we can put this frustrating situation behind us and hopefully Celtic won’t forget to re-invest the transfer fee in the summer.
Abada was a player Brendan Rodgers liked and wanted to work with. He picked up an injury in September while away with Israel on international duty and was missing until the end of December. By that time the conflict in the Palestinian lands had escalated and Celtic supporters pro-Palestinian stance received widespread criticism in Israel but a huge amount of praise throughout the world.
The Green Brigade in particular have been active in promoting the Palestinian cause long before Ange Postecoglou signed Abada in July 2021. Abada received grief form his homeland for wearing Celtic colours and after his head was completely in the wring place in a recent match against Hibs at Easter Road the decision was taken to move the player on as was his own preference.
That’s now happened and frankly it looks like it will be quite a while before another Israeli wants to sign for Celtic again or Celtic will look to shop in that market. Abada was always very well treated and liked by the Celtic support, none of this is his fault and no Celtic supporter has ever held his nationality or heaven forbid, his religion against him. Israeli lies about that merely put them in a worse light than is already the case and if they opened their eyes they’d see what the world thinks about them.
The States is probably the most friendly country towards Israel so it makes sense from a non footballing point of view for Liel Abada to have moved there. Best of luck to the lad. No hard feeling from us, but please don’t tell any lies about the Celtic support who always treated you well.
CONFIRMED: Charlotte FC have signed Celtic winger Liel Abada in a deal worth £10m.
The Israel international joins on a contract until the end of the 2026 season, with the MLS club having an option to extend by a further year. https://t.co/xJFCZhguSo

‘No celtic supporter has held his nationality, or heaven forbid, his religion against him’.
That’s simply not true, I saw certain fans posting about both (I’ve heard people say things as well, but some written comments are still there and verifiable). Sure it’s a small minority, but why lie about that?
I get that this is a Celtic fan site, so is inherently biased, but this alongside previous articles blaming his unhappiness purely on Israelis is ridiculous. You can’t even admit that ‘Victory to the Resistance’ a day after a huge Hamas terror attack is pretty sickening regardless of your feelings about Israel.
(I’m sure this post will be ‘moderated’ like my last, even though it doesn’t break any rules, by TCS’s own little propaganda dept.)
Stand by that line you quoted, the Green Brigade’s long term support for Palestinian rights pre-dates Liel Abada’s arrival at Celtic. We have had other Israeli players and none including Liel received any hostility from the Green Brigade or any other Celtic supporter at any games I attended. As or propaganda, no just the views of Celtic fans.
