Celtic still have a while to go until they face competitive opposition again, but it would be nice to see some progress on incoming transfers ahead of next season.
The main focus for months has been the possible retention of Fraser Forster. A report has emerged which suggests a top four club from England is now looking to sign him, but it’s fairly vague so it’s hard to tell how credible it is.
Another long running saga has been David Turnbull’s proposed move to Celtic Park. If it wasn’t for a failed medical we would be discussing his first season in Glasgow, but he’s still working his way back to fitness.
It still sounds like Celtic do want to sign him and it will probably come down to him proving his fitness, but reports suggest that Motherwell won’t get close to the £3m that was agreed last summer.
The hunt for attacking reinforcements does appear to be never ending with new names popping up every day.
There are some gems to be found in the English lower leagues so Peterborough striker Ivan Toney is an interesting name, but Barry Fry has placed an astonishing price tag on his League One striker who has 12 months left on his contract.
The name Alberth Elis might be familiar to some fans after Celtic failed with a bid last year, but he’s approaching the end of his contract and has made some comments which suggest he’s on his way to Europe.
Hopefully we do get some kind of final decision over Forster soon, but everything else just feels like paper talk for now.
