Celtic v Falkirk: Predicted XI with changes expected

Celtic face Falkirk this afternoon in the Quarter Finals of the League Cup. The Scottish Champions were brilliant in their UEFA Champions League opener against Slovan Bratislava. Brendan Rodgers will be weighing up making a number of changes to keep his team fresh and firing as they look to compete on multiple fronts.

Kasper Schmeichel will start in goals as he faces off against his former club at Paradise. It will be a special moment for Schmeichel, who impressed during his spell with the Bairns when he was 18.

In defence, expect Alex Valle and Auston Trusty to make their first starts for Celtic this afternoon. The manager will be wary of making too many changes to the backline so you’d expect Liam Scales and Alistair Johnston to continue.

In midfield, captain Callum McGregor will continue with summer signing Paulo Bernardo and Luke McCowan, allowing Arne Engels and Reo Hatate the chance to make an impact from the bench.

In attack, Adam Idah will start through the middle. You would expect Daizen Maeda to continue from the left with James Forrest coming in to the starting XI.

Predicted XI: Schmeichel; Valle, Scales, Trusty, Johnston; McGregor, Bernardo, McCowan; Maeda, Idah, Forrest.
