Brendan Rodgers has been given a fitness boost today as both Daizen Maeda and Cameron Carter-Vickers trained at Lennoxtown this morning ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League group stages match against Feyenoord at Celtic Park.

Daizen Maeda has been out since that awful night in Madrid on 7th November when he was send off after 20 minutes and injured in the challenge. The Japan international forward has been badly missed and could make a welcome return tomorrow evening.

Meanwhile Cameron Carter-Vickers, who has had a difficult year injury wise, was subbed off at half-time last midweek against Hibs after feeling a tight hamstring. A subsequent scan showed that there was no problem but Brendan Rodgers decided against using the American international defender at Rugby Park on Sunday as the Champions suffered a 2-1 defeat to re-ignite the title race.

Carter-Vickers is almost certain to be a starter tomorrow evening as Celtic chase our first home win in the Champions League for a decade. With the match already sold out and a sizeable travelling support from Rotterdam in town for the game, it promises to be an exciting game and one that Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to win.

It’s a shame that The Green Brigade won’t be there but hopefully that is a situation that will be resolved for the weekend’s crucial Scottish Premiership match against Hearts at Celtic Park.

Sky Sports were up at Lennoxtown this morning and their video captures the two Celtic stars back in training. Hopefully both start tomorrow night.
