Celtic v Motherwell: David Dickinson appointed as referee, Alan Muir on VAR

The SFA have confirmed the refereeing appointments for Celtic’s trip to face Motherwell. The Scottish Champions return to domestic action after drawing 0-0 with Atalanta in Bergamo.

David Dickinson has been appointed as referee for the game at Fir Park. Dickinson will be assisted by Jonathan Bell and Steven Traynor. Meanwhile, at Clydesdale House, Alan Muir is on VAR with Gary Hilland assisting.

Dickinson hasn’t refereed a Celtic game this season but he was Fourth Official for the win over Rangers in early September. The last Celtic game that the 44-year-old officiated was the Scottish Cup win over St Mirren back in February.

After picking up a point in the Champions League, Celtic will need to win to regain their place at the top of the table. Peter Ambrose netted a late winner for Jimmy Thelin’s side to send them top ahead of a game against Rangers at Pittodrie then a trip to Hampden to face Brendan’s side.

Hopefully Celtic can start well and avoid requiring late goals as they did on both of their last two visits to North Lanarkshire last season.

  1. Another game where we have to beat motherwell along with cheating officials?
Not to mention getting away games after a CL match midweek game by this so called random fixture computer?
And yet some folk don’t understand why we celebrate winning trophies in the manner that we do?
