Celtic v Motherwell: Predicted XI with Palma & Johnston benched

Celtic face Motherwell this afternoon as domestic football resumes. The international break usually serves up some difficulties for the manager, usually with knocks being picked up and travel fatigue. However, Brendan Rodgers has no fresh concerns.

Celtic are without Reo Hatate, Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda; however, Stephen Welsh is back training with the Champions. Luis Palma and Alistair Johnston returned to Glasgow yesterday from international duty, meaning they may be doubts to start.

In goals, Joe Hart will start.

Expect a backline to consist of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales in the central pairing with Greg Taylor and Tony Ralston starting at full back.

In midfield, you’d expect Callum McGregor to start with Danish Internationalist Matt O’Riley. The third midfield spot could go to David Turnbull. With Lazio on Tuesday, you’d expect the midfield to be rotated at some point today.

In attack, Kyogo will start. Given Palma’s travels at Tuesday night looming large, expect James Forrest and Yang to start on the wings.

Predicted XI: Hart; Ralston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor; McGregor, O’Riley, Turnbull; Yang, Kyogo, Forrest.
