Celtic v Shakhtar Donetsk- team news, KO time and where to watch

Celtic face Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League this evening. The Ukrainian outfit arrive in Glasgow looking to seal their progression into the Europa League; however, Ange Postecoglou will be looking to gain Celtic’s first win of the group as they look to set up a dramatic finish to their Champions League campaign.

The previous game, held in Warsaw, resulted in a 1-1 draw as Celtic rued missed opportunities – something that has been a theme this campaign. The football that Celtic have played has been impressive yet the lack of quality in the final third, that killer instinct has been missing. Fourteen goals in three games has Ange’s team proving that they can turn on the style and now, they’ll need to show that they can do it underneath the lights tonight.

Team News

The manager shuffled his pack again at the weekend as The Scottish Champions won at Tynecastle in dramatic fashion. Although, questions remain as to who he will select in the wide areas and in midfield.

In goals, Joe Hart will start. In defence, match winner Greg Taylor will start at left back. Josip Juranovic will begin at right back. The central pairing will consist of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Moritz Jenz.

In midfield, the manager will go with the trio that started at Tynecastle. Even if he’s tempted to bring Sead Haksabanovic into that central attacking role. The player may start on the left side, as he did against Hibs. The manager will weigh up whether to play Liel Abada or James Forrest but you’d imagine the Israeli will get the nod with Kyogo through the middle.

Despite training today, the game has come too soon for Jota and Carl Starfelt. David Turnbull, who has missed recent games through injury, is available for selection. Celtic captain Callum McGregor remains out with a knee injury.

Predicted XI: Hart; Juranovic, Carter-Vickers, Jenz, Taylor; O’Riley, Hatate, Mooy; Haksabanovic, Kyogo, Abada.

Kick Off Time

The game kicks off at 8pm (Celtic Park time).

Where to Watch

The game will be BT Sport 3, with coverage beginning at 7:15pm.
