Moi Elyounoussi spoke to the Media ahead of tomorrow evening’s third group stages match at Celtic Park against Sparta Prague. It’s the first game of the double header against the Czech side and Celtic will be targeting 6 points from the two games to get back into contention in what is a very difficult group featuring both AC Milan and Lille.
“We need to keep the momentum going. We’re expecting a tough game. It’s a big game for both teams for progression in the group,” Elyounoussi stated. “We’ll both be trying to win the game, to still have the possibility to go through, so I’m expecting a tough game against a good team.
“Everyone knows what this game means and it’s very important for us. We know that, and anything less than a win would be disappointing, but we are confident and we just have to go out there, do our job and keep the momentum going.
“We believe in ourselves and everyone working at the club is helping us to achieve our goals so, in the end, there will always be someone who is against us for whatever reason. The only thing we can do is prove everyone wrong, train hard and try to come back and win the next game.”
The Norwegian forward, on a second season long loan from Southampton grabbed a double in France last Thursday and also netted in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen at Hampden on Sunday. And with another international break looming he was full of praise for Neil Lennon for supporting him and the other players who have international commitments to fulfil – all with the Celtic manager’s blessing, it seems.
“I feel in great shape, the team is doing well and as long as we keep winning, that’s the most important thing. But, obviously, as an attacking player, you always want to contribute with either goals or assists, so I’m really happy that I can help my team and hopefully I can keep that going.
“My main focus is to play as well as I can for Celtic. I’m enjoying my time here and I try to do my best in every game, so that’s my main focus. As long as I keep playing well, that’s the most important thing. I’ve enjoyed my time here so far, and that’s why I wanted to extend my loan for another year, and so far, it’s been very nice.
“Any team can have a dip in form but I think we’re back on it now. We’ve had a good week – it was a good performance away against Lille and then again on Sunday at Hampden, so this is something we need to build on. We need to keep the momentum going. Like I said, we’re in good shape and good form now.”
