Celtic have decided against pursuing a deal for Mateusz Bogusz. The Scottish Champions had tabled a formal offer earlier this week for the Polish midfielder but talks have not progressed as they would have hoped, resulting in Brendan Rodgers’ side pursuing other targets.
According to Tomasz Włodarczyk, who broke the news of Celtic’s interest last week, talks have been postponed and the player is unlikely to switch California for Scotland.

Celtic will look to sign Arne Engels from Augsburg, having tabled an improved £10m bid on Wednesday. Celtic have also upped their bid to £5.5m for Auston Trusty, the left sided central defender. Notwithstanding the fact that Engels would be a good signing, Brendan said he wanted two if Matt O’Riley were to leave.
Celtic have actively been trying to strengthen their squad for the forthcoming UEFA Champions League campaign as well as looking to continue our domestic dominance. Bogusz was one of the names heavily linked but it appears that LAFC are digging their heels in and Celtic have made the decision to walk away.
Hopefully, there are other targets identified that the club can swiftly move onto. The worry is that the lateness of Celtic’s activity will cost them in the window.
We should definitely get Engels and Trusty and then spend a few bob on Luke McCowan . End of business. Happy with that.

Not good enough. Waiting for the MOR money to come in before doing any serious business has led to this. Brought in around £50m since January, spending around £17m so far, despite having funds in the bank… Now every selling club knows we are desperate AND we are even more loaded. Let’s see who we get in the CL and compare their summer signing strategy, I’d be surprised if any have such difficulties in spending their money.
They aren’t digging their heals in. Their window is shut and they cannot get a replacement so why should they sell.
This is another example of Celtic doing everything at their pace except that other clubs have their own priorities.
We never learn: delay, delay, do nothing, delay some more, then in the final few days, go for unrealistic targets while pretending we’ve turned down offers for some of our players after we’ve already sold at least one high value player.
Celtic fans laugh at The Rangers fans across the city but our supporters are being taken for mugs just as much as they are.
Same as usual. All these names are camouflage for not putting their hands in their pockets and are just for keeping the fans optimistic. Brendan Rodgers will walk if he doesn’t get decent players to compete in Europe. Engels and the Sheff United lad will fall through too just you wait and see.

It’s all smoke and mirrors with this Celtic Board. They never had any intention of seriously strengthening the squad. They’ll probably get Engels and possibly trusty, but they’ve lost Matt O’Riley and haven’t really added any significant quality. All the talk of deals for this one and that one are just to distract the fans and make them believe things are happening. They’ll bank the greater amount of O’Riley’s sale and we’ll get humiliated in Europe again. It’s all so predictable now.
Boguszzzz says it all. Now we’re expected to believe we’re after somebody called Alvyn Sanchezzzz, obviously another made up name! When we get to Dee Prices Wright I think we will buy!
