Celtic will have a £6.5m option to buy Filipe Jota, according to a report from Portugal. The Benfica attacker is expected to join Celtic on a season-long loan as Postecoglou looks to strengthen his side ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

According to Portuguese transfer insider Pedro Almeida, Celtic are nearing an agreement with Benfica that would see the young winger join Celtic on loan but with the option to make that move permanent.

The 22-year-old spent last year on loan at La Liga side Real Valladolid and made 19 appearances, scoring once and assisting once but it has been widely reported that the Portuguese winger is a potential target for Ange Postecoglou’s side. The Australian wants a few more signings as the deadline approaches on Tuesday. Jota is likely to arrive with VVV Venlo’s Georgious Giakoumakis, with the 26-year-old undergoing a medical earlier today.

Celtic may look to get another signing or two in the closing stages of the window; however, they will also likely be working hard to get certain players out of the club – such as Vasilis Barkas, Odsonne Edouard and Boli Bolingoli.
