Chelsea and Manchester United are set to go head-to-head for the services of former Celtic star, Jeremie Frimpong. The one-time Celtic right-back is currently in the German Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen and has been developing his game to such an extent that numerous elite clubs are now hot on his trail.

It’s been a constantly evolving story in relation to the Frimpong windfall that Celtic are due to receive and it looks like it could reach its conclusion by the end of the week, if reports are accurate. The Dutchman was a product of the Manchester City youth academy and Celtic snared him for a paltry sum of £800,000 on a cross-border compensation deal.

His story was one of massive success as Frimpong went on to have a very impressive spell in the Hoops before Bayer Leverkusen decided to take him off our hands for £11.5 million back in the January of 2021. Jeremie was a wonderful player to have in the side; full of energy and enthusaism and also with pace to burn, he really came into his own in Scottish football and his talents didn’t stay several for very long.

Now being courted by top sides across Europe, a move to the English Premier League seems destined to be the next step in his career. Well now it appears as though he could have his choice between two giants of the English game. The London Evening Standard reports that Frimpong is now at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war between the two clubs and should he leave this window, Celtic will be due a considerable chunk of change from this one.

One to watch out for over the coming days.
