One of the things to have come out of the Celtic PLC AGM today was the great news that Celtic are due to commence work on their Barrowfield Redevelopment Project. The Hoops had previously announced planning for the historical training ground which was switched to the current Lennoxtown Headquarters back in 2007.

The project will be quite the undertaking and the heirarchy have committed to pouring in millions from our record-breaking revenues to improving the space and it’s facilities for the club’s various squads. It’s thought that this will vastly improve the the options available to the boys and girls academies, as well as the women’s team, whilst a new indoor facility will prove invaluable for the whole club during those winter months.

Investing in infrastructure is often overlooked but it is a necessary move to safeguard the future generations which come through the club’s ranks, in addition to upgrading the amenities for the first-team stars day-to-day. Speaking today with Gerry McCulloch alongside his associate, Michael Nicholson, Chris McKay confirmed that the club would begin work on this major project this December. He said: “It’s very imminent. We’ve been putting in a lot of work over a long period of time now.

“And the good news is that the contractors take possession of the site in December next month. It’s an exciting project for the boys academy, the girls academy and it will be a base for the women’s team. So it will be a first-class facility which will serve the club for years to come and we’re really excited about it.”
