Celtic, along with the other elite clubs in Europe, are set to take part in the Champions League draw this afternoon. Following the brutal 5 – 1 (7 – 2 agg) defeat of theRangers away at PSV last night, the pots were finalised with PSV Eindhoven, Copenhagen, and Antwerp all successfully making their way into Champions League football this season, filling the final three slots and completing the list of 2023/24 Champions League participants.

Listen to this to set the mood for the day…Ibrox lurkers look away now.

As Celtic are placed in Pot 4, we needn’t worry about other clubs placed in the same pot, but we now know which teams we can draw from the other three pots.

Pot 1 – Manchester City, Sevilla, Barcelona, Napoli, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, and Feyenoord.

Pot 2 – Real Madrid, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig, Porto, and Arsenal.

Pot 3 – Shakhtar Donetsk, Red Bull Salzburg, AC Milan, Braga, PSV, Lazio, Red Star Belgrade, and Copenhagen.

There is plenty of top talent spread throughout each pot and several teams Celtic can certainly compete with.

Ideally, if it all falls in place for Celtic, we would draw Feyenoord from Pot 1, Porto from Pot 2 and Shakhtar Donetsk from the third pot. Although, the option of Manchester United in the second pot isn’t the scariest proposition for the Hoops.

Knowing Celtic’s luck in the recent UCL draws, we could end up with the rather daunting draw of Manchester City from the first pot, Real Madrid from the second, and AC Milan from the third.
