Celtic’s Birthday Wishes to Brendan, Possible Benkovic Favour Incoming

Celtic have tweeted their birthday wishes to former manager Brendan Rodgers. The Leicester manager, who left in February 2019, left the club in a rush, leaving on a sour note for a lot of the supporters.

Rodgers won seven trophies in a row as well as being the mastermind behind the Invincible season and the club have taken to Twitter to give the Irishman their best wishes.

Many supporters took issue with the message with many still resenting Rodgers for leaving via a backdoor to the English Premier League with a title race against Rangers in full swing. However, Rodgers does represent one of the club’s most successful managers leading the club to an incredible Double Treble since joining in 2016.

Rodgers wasn’t around for the Treble Treble as Neil Lennon took over and lead the club to both the League and Scottish Cup.

Another cynical take on the tweet might be that Celtic are hoping for a favour from their former manager in the shape of Filip Benkovic.

Rodgers confirmed that he would be looking to send the Croatian out on loan in the coming days and Neil Lennon suggested that the manager would be interested in re-signing the 22-year-old on loan.

Benkovic Update – Lennon and Rodgers Open to Celtic Return

People may think that Celtic are massaging the ego of the former manager in an attempt to keep him sweet should they come in for the central defender.

Nevertheless, supporters are not happy that the club have wished Rodgers happy birthday.
