WHILST International games were taking place last night with a number of Celtic players involved, those that were left behind at Lennoxtown have been working away ahead of the Glasgow Derby against theRangers. The Scottish Champions face Rangers on October 17 and Neil Lennon wasn’t willing to let the level drop during the International break so asked Motherwell to play a bounce game.

A youthful Celtic side, blended with experience beat the Well 2-1. Returning striker Leigh Griffiths, who netted on Sunday, got 90 mins alongside Diego Laxalt. Neil Lennon will be keen to get the Uruguayan left-back up to speed ahead of the game versus Rangers.

Bain, Ralston, Welsh, Hjeldi, Diego, Soro, Brown, Henderson, Kadi, Harper, Griffiths

Griffiths scored along with forgotten right-back Anthony Ralston. But importantly, there were minutes on the pitch for Scott Bain, Ismaila Soro, Karamoko Dembele, Olivier Ntcham and Scott Brown. Christopher Jullien and Tom Rogic were expected to play a part but it is unclear at this stage.

It will have been a good run-out for the Celtic players, keeping themselves in a good condition ahead of the game versus Steven Gerrard’s team next weekend. Celtic will likely be without Ryan Christie, Odsonne Edouard and James Forrest for the clash so getting minutes into the legs of players is important.
