Celtic skipper Callum McGregor has been nominated as one of the finalists for the William Hill Men’s International Player by the Scottish Football Writers. The 30-year-old has been a pivotal part of Steve Clarke’s side as they qualified for the European Championships in Germany.

CalMac will go up against midfield colleagues John McGinn and Scott McTominay as well as goalkeeper Angus Gunn for the accolade.

McGregor has been outstanding for Scotland at the base of the midfield, allowing McGinn and McTominay to push forward and try get amongst the goals.

Clarke will be unable to call upon McGregor when he announces his squad for the forthcoming clashes against N Ireland and the Netherlands. McGregor is currently sidelined with an injury to his Achilles. It is hoped that the midfielder will be back after the international break.
