Celtic’s development plans a step in the right direction

The new training centre is a step in the right direction…

Celtic yesterday announced that they approved significant investment in the clubs Barrowfield training facilities and there is also development plans for the current first team base over at Lennoxtown.

The club of course boast fantastic facilities in the current training base at Lennoxtown, but the new cash injection will dramatically improve the currently below standard East End base and providing state of the art facilities for the boys and girls youth sides as well as Fran Alonso’s Celtic FC Women’s side.

A state of the art gym and fitness facilities, Celtic Academy and Celtic FC Women office areas. The upgrade will include a new indoor arena, featuring full sized IFA approved artificial surface with a combination of outdoor natural grass and artificial pitches.

New changing facilities, medial suite for player treatment and rehab. Sports science area, an analysis centre and classroom and learning facilities. It’s step in the right direction and puts us in line with all the top clubs who boast such facilities.

We are a top class club and need the facilities to match. Investing a huge amount of money in this area is a great move by the club and one we will reap the benefits in the years to come.

Previously Celtic have relied on share issues to fund this type of capital investment into the club’s infrastructure. This time though it looks to be getting paid for out of trading profits from what is a very well managed business, in stark contrast to some others we could mention. You know who they are!

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.
