Celtic’s league title win in 2020 was more than deserved

Celtic’s league title win in 2020 was more than deserved…

Nobody does delusion quite like theRangers support. They may be the poor relations in our city football speaking, but when it comes to talking absolute nonsense, they are untouchable. They are in a league of their own in that category.

Just this week they have been rewriting history once more with one particular subject being flaunted yet again. This time it’s in regard to our league title win back in 2020. Yes the title that equalled our own club record of nine titles in a row. It was a fantastic achievement and we were more than worthy winners.

But not according to theRangers supporters. The angry bears tell you we were ‘handed the title over zoom’ due to the league being brought to a premature close due to the pandemic and the chaos that COVID brought to the entire population of the world.

It was the right call to curtail all sporting events. The majority of the clubs voted just that. The Ibrox side predictably didn’t, although they did rip their playing surface up, so they knew fine well it was the only obvious and sensible outcome.

Let’s get one thing straight. We earned that title. We had played every single side in the league home and away. We were by far the best side in the country. We were playing some wonderful football and we were full of confidence. We were also 13 points clear with 8 games to play. Granted we had played a game more, but we weren’t going to be caught.

And theRangers supporters all knew this, in fact the premature end saved them the pain of watching us turn them over in their own back yard. We were of course due to play them when proceedings were brought to a halt. They were in free fall. They were in a dire state and there were calls for Steven Gerrard’s head after they lost their last league match at Ibrox to the mighty Hamilton.  Watch this…

Not one Celtic supporter wanted the football to stop. I was the most confident I’d ever been going into a Derby game. We would have beaten them and gone on to win the league by a huge margin, of that I have no doubts about.

They know that as well, they just made up a pack of lies to comfort themselves rather than admit Celtic were worthy winners. It’s what they do, but deep down they know it too.  How the truth hurts them though.

About Author

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.
