Kwon impressing at St Mirren, let’s hope he keeps it up…

We have a few players out on loan at the moment, and one that seems to be impressing at his temporary employers is South Korean midfielder Kwon who joined St Mirren on a loan deal from Celtic last month.

By all accounts the big midfielder is winning many admirers amongst the buddies supporters, and was a stand out in the recent 3-0 win against Hibernian at Easter Road. This is good news not only for Stephen Robinson’s side, but for Celtic also as we could be getting a more confident and accomplished player when the South Korean heads back to Celtic Park in the summer.

This could be the making of Kwon. He’s been harshly judged by some supporters despite him barely featuring in the first team. Hopefully Kwon follows the likes of Kristoffer Ajer, Ryan Christie and Liam Scales who all had beneficial loan spells with fellow Scottish clubs before coming back to Celtic Park and making a mark in the first team.

Kwon is a big and physical player who likes to dominate in the middle of the park, but he can also play a bit. That’s the sort of presence we lack in our midfield at this moment. Could Kwon be the man to fill that void? Time will tell, but if he keeps improving at St Mirren and continues to put in consistent and effective performances then it will be give us an interesting option for next season.
