Celtic’s “lovely footballer” praised by Sutton

Chris Sutton took to Twitter this afternoon to praise Celtic’s Wizard of Oz, Tom Rogic, for a superb showing in Perth today as Celtic ran out 3-1 winners against St Johnstone in what is the last cinch Premiership match before the winter break. Celtic played very well considering the state the pitch is in and the fact we are running on empty at the moment with injuries, fatigue and illness.

However, Ange and his Bhoys got the job done and Tom Rogic was instrumental in the win today. Callum Davidson’s side set-up as they usually do, to frustrate and be physical – with Tom coming in for some hefty treatment at times from the Saints. They simply had no answer for the Aussie when he was in full flow with that lovely touch and half-turn causing carnage with the defensive lines of St Johnstone.

His display today did not go unnoticed though, as ex-Celtic striker Sutton was in awe of the big man despite the conditions at McDairmid Park this lunchtime kick-off. Sutton described Rogic as a “lovely footballer”. I have to say, we all agree, Chris and you’d be hard pressed to find a single Celtic supporter who disagrees.

On a day when all three Celtic goals were scored by Israeli internationals it’s our Australian star Tom Rogic was was the Man of the Match.

TWICE AS GOOD

Thanks to everyone who ordered Harry Hood – Twice as Good for Christmas presents. If you got an Ange jumper instead then why not order this brilliant book by Matt Corr, or indeed David Potter’s biography of another Celtic legend Alec McNair – born on this day incidentally – from Celtic Star Books or from the official Celtic stores?

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
