Celtic new boy called into Belgium squad…
Incoming Celtic record transfer signing Arne Engels has been called up to the full Belgian national side for his country’s upcoming Nation League clashes against Israel and France.
That just shows how talented the highly rated youngster is by getting called up for a side that boasts midfielders such as Kevin De Bruyne and Youri Tielemans is testament to his ability.
Celtic have splashed out a club record sum for the 20 year old and any concerns over his ability to fit into the side will be eased that he is seen good enough for a place in a squad as talented as the Belgian one.
Arne may only be 20, but he already boasts over 50 appearances in the highly competitive Bundesliga and has represented his national side regularly at under 21 level, which clearly shows that we have a great talent on our hands.
This call up to the senior squad shows that he’s clearly been impressing in the quality surroundings of the Bundesliga with Augsburg and that should be enough to convince us all that we have signed a top quality player.
Brendan Rodgers looks like being well ahead of the curve on this signing, with Arne’s valuation set to soar over the next few seasons. If he becomes a regular in his national side, ranked as one of the best in the world, and can make an impact for Celtic in the Champions League then the transfer fee of £11m will certainly be money well spent.
