Celtic’s Rugby Park revenge mission, Kilmarnock’s injury woes

Tomorrow lunchtime sees us head back to the scene of our only domestic defeat of the season. It’s of course a trip down the M77 to face Kilmarnock on their plastic at Rugby Park.

Derek McInnes’s side dumped us out of the League Cup back in August in a single goal defeat. A loss that was a sore one to take as we played so poorly, and tomorrow we will be aiming to put it right. To win we will have to start the way we did against Hibs and not St Johnstone that’s for sure. Killie are on a good run at the moment and are a difficult side to beat especially at home.

Derek McInnes has numerous injury worries ahead of visit of the Champions, as he explained to Sky Sports yesterday afternoon. “Joe Wright is touch and go for the game. We’ve got Innes Cameron and Kyle Magennis out – although Magennis will probably be back next week,” the Killie manager revealed.

“We’ve got Brad Lyons and Liam Donnelly, who picked up injuries from the other day at Pittodrie. Young David Watson is unfortunately suspended. There’s a few there in the one area of the pitch that we’ve got a real concern about. Hopefully we can get some good news over the 48 hours on one or two and we can be as strong as we possibly can be with selection.”

Brendan has a dilemma on his hands as Oh put forward his case for a start after his superb showing against Hibs on Wednesday. For me he has to start Oh ahead of Kyogo or maybe he will start both, who knows?

But whatever side he puts out will have to be fully focused from the start as the three points is a must if we want to avenge that early season loss.

The Celtic manager told Sky Sports: “They’re in a good place. We’re just checking on one or two. Cameron Carter-Vickers, who came off, we’ll just see how he is. Apart from that, we have no-one new coming into the squad.”

Then in his media conference, the Celtic manager added: “We’ll assess Cameron over the next couple of days. He didn’t pull his hamstring but we just had an MRI scan on that just to make sure he’s okay. We’re just waiting on the results of that. If the scan shows nothing he has a chance of playing.”
