Celtic’s surprising Maik Nawrocki stance revealed

Celtic are willing to listen to loan offers for Maik Nawrocki. The Polish central defender arrived from Legia Warsaw in a deal worth £4.3m.

According to Sky Sports, Celtic are keen to offload the player in a loan deal as they look to get him regular first team football.

This is a somewhat surprising move as the defender has always been steady, if not a little injury prone, since arriving last summer. The move appears to be an insight into the manager’s plans with the club looking to bring in another central defender. The club are interested in a left sided centre back to partner Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The news comes as Celtic look to offload Gustaf Lagerbielke and Yuki Kobayashi on a permanent basis. The central duo have rarely featured since arriving at the club and the manager is clear that he wants more fringe players moved on.

The club appear to have blocked an approach from Belgium for Stephen Welsh, which appears to put him in Brendan’s reckoning as one of the four central defenders. However, the club’s stance may well change before the window closes, depending on incoming developments in the transfer market (no laughing at the back).

  1. Beginning to worry about players Rodgers want keep Welsh is probably the worst CB I have seen at Celtic for a long time, and Rodgers seems to be trying to hold on to him.where as he trying to push Nawrocki out the door in every game I’ve seen him he has been more reliable than Welsh

    • Agree with Charlie Kelly

Welsh was poor last season when called upon. Nawrocki looked a much better option.

Getting rid of Oh and Vata before the Idah deal is over the line is baffling , Kyogo only striker at the club now , one injury away from none. We all thought the worse when he went down at the weekend. You would think BR is on some sort of performance related bonus to sell fringe players , reduce wage bill at club. I’m guessing Welsh is on less than Nawarocki.

    • Welsh is decent lad who simply hasn’t improved since Covid season. Hasn’t improved his pace, or left foot, or goals from corners..no change in 4 years.how is that possible?

      • Welsh counts as a homegrown player for European games, the others don’t, it’s likely to be that simple.

  2. I fear the same as everyone else but I believe that ifBrendon is allowing everyone to leave then the club “Must” have a plan in place…….

As hard as it seems to sound…it’s time to believe in the board, believe in Brendon and believe in the club.

  3. I suspect Stephen Welsh has the advantage of being Scots-born (to meet Euro requirements on home-grown players) and that Navrocki is liked but needs games to test his ability and robustness. Makes sense to me. Trust Brendan.

  4. Martin Blackshaw on

It’s not Brendan we distrust, it’s the money-hoarding Board he continues to make excuses for. My prediction is this: There will be no quality additions this window. We will all be told how hard the recruitment ghosts tried but just couldn’t compete with the bigger clubs. Just watch and see! They’ll add one striker and that will be our lot, but I don’t think it will be Idah or any other player valued at greater than £4m.

  5. Celtic FC. The bank of friends and family. Six non-executive directors. No football club needs six non executive directors.

Rise up and stand up. Kick the doors of Celtic Park open and drag these fucking crook scum out of our our club.

    SACK THE BOARD!

  6. The board are hoarding onto cash after this season the champions league format changes next season it will make difficult to get into the league group stages for spl champions .But maybe it’s now we should be buying quality players to improve our play in the champions league for years it’s been so bad and pathetic we struck lucky with Jota and O’Reilly if he is sold but also spent millions on duds Rodgers will go along with the board he is on a nice earner at Celtic.
