Celtic were earlier today drawn in Champions League Group E alongside Feyenoord, Atletico Madrid and Lazio. All decent sides, but the draw was kinder than it could have been. For example Group G would have seen us pitted alongside Man City, Leipzig and Red Star Belgrade, or the daunting looking Group F which contained PSG, Dortmund and AC Milan.

In the end the draw was quite kind to Celtic and although it’s still relatively tough, it’s one we should be looking to compete in. Third place is not out of our reach. In fact it’s quite achievable, anything else is a bonus but also possible.

Geography it’s also good and will give our support three great away days in Rotterdam, Rome and Madrid, three fantastic cities where Celtic will head in their thousands as usual.

It will be tough, but we can go into the Champions League with a reasonable level of optimism. We now have six exciting matches to look forward and Brendan Rodgers and the players will fear no-one. This is the Champions League and we are the only Scottish club in it.

Some other supporters can only look on in envy. This is the cream of European football, and we are part of that. Strap yourselves in, it’s going to be some journey!

Just an Ordinary Bhoy
