Since April 2025, a club involved in UEFA play-offs can unilaterally postpone its domestic fixture on the affected weekend – no longer requiring the consent of the opposition. St Johnstone don’t get a vote. That rule change, whatever its administrative inconvenience for clubs on the receiving end, is a straightforward acknowledgement that European income and coefficient points matter more to Scottish football than one August league game.
